Shift is The Village Youth's annual in-town weekend retreat, similar in structure to Disciple Now (or D-Now) weekends. This will be a weekend full of fun, interactive and inclusive games, biblical teaching, small-group discipleship and awesome fellowship with the rest of The Village Youth! The majority of the event will take place at our McPherson campus, but students will be staying at host home with students of the same gender and general age as well as at least two leaders. This year's theme

This year, our theme is No Filter. We will be zooming in on the book of Ephesians, and looking at how to remove the filters that incorrectly influence our view of God, others, and ourselves. When we see God unfiltered, we stop worrying about our past mistakes or gaining others approval.

God made us to reflect HIS image to the world and our goal is to use this weekend to empower students to stop hiding and live unhindered for the gospel of Christ.

COVID-19 Precautions

Because of the current COVID-19 pandemic, we will be taking as many precautions as possible throughout SHIFT to protect our students, leaders, and The Village Youth as a whole.
Some precautions we will be taking include:
  • Serving pre-packaged meals and individually portioned snacks. (With the exception of breakfast which will be served to each individual small group in the homes, limiting exposure to viral particles.)
  • Social distancing whenever possible and masking when social distancing is not possible. Additionally, we will be spending as much time outdoors as weather will allow.
  • Small group sizes will be limited. Risk will be limited at SHIFT as most of the weekend is spent within specific small groups. When small groups are mingling together, we will ask all students to wear their masks.
  • Upon arrival to the church each day, temperatures will be measured to ensure that no one is running a fever. Anyone who is running a fever above 100.4 will be isolated from students immediately, and their parents/guardians will be contacted promptly to pick up their student.
  • Each participant (leaders included) will be required to submit a waiver that indicates that they have not experienced any COVID-19 symptoms or come into close contact with anyone who has tested positive for COVID-19 within the past 2 weeks. For minors, this form will require a parent/guardian signature.
  • Unless Hosts request otherwise, we will not require masks while students are in their host homes. If hosts request masks to be worn inside their homes, we will respect their wishes, however, students will not be required to wear masks while sleeping for safety purposes.
